CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Liam Kyle (Cleveland, Ohio) grabbed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Tom Wright (Sydney, Australia) had a team high 16 points in Coker’s 62-59 loss to the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday night at Queen’s Ovens Athletic Center.

Going 13-13 from the charity stripe, the Royals’ Reggie Hopkins led all scorers with 23 points and five rebounds.

Leading by as many as 13 in the first half, the Royals’ solid defense hellding the Cobras to 37 percent on 10-of-27 shooting.

The Royals connected on 46.4 of their shots to take a 31-25 lead into the break.

The second half would be a different story for Coker. The Cobras worked the deficit down to one point before an Austin Harper (Chesnee, S.C.) jumper gave them their first lead of the game at 38-37 with over 15 minutes remaining.

Wright gathered one of Coker’s 14 second-half offensive rebounds and notched an easy layup to give the Cobras a seven-point lead with 9:06 on the clock.

Queens responded to the deficit with a 9-0 run that put the Royals back into the lead.

Trailing 60-59, Kyle came up short on a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining.

Forced to foul, the Cobras sent Hopkins to the line to sink his 12th and 13th consecutive free throws with 00:03 on the clock to put the Royals up 62-59.

Out of timeouts, the Cobras’ Delonte Doles heaved a full court shot that fell short as time expired.

The win gave Queens their 13th in a row and tops the 12-game streak put together by the 2002-03 team, the longest in the program’s history.

Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) also scored in double figures adding 12 points on the night. Doles chipped in with nine and Harper finished the night with six points and eight boards.

The Cobras return to the hardwood for their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at home against Conference Carolinas rival Erskine College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
