HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra men’s basketball team snapped a three game Conference Carolinas losing streak with a  dominating 81-61 win over the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Saturday evening in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action.

The Cobras only trailed once during the entire 40 minutes of play and that was during the opening two minutes of play when the Bobcats scored the first points of the game, but following a pair of Delonte Doles (Roswell, Ga.) layups and a Tom Wright (Sydney, Australia) three pointer Coker took the lead and never looked back.

Coker built as much as a 16 point lead in the first half with the help of some outstanding defensive plays, including two huge blocks by Joselle Bracy (Ruby, S.C.) and Liam Kyle (Cleveland, Ohio).  The Bobcats battled their way back, but Coker still held a nine point advantage as they enter halftime.

Lees-McRae came out with a fire in the second half and kept the game within reach for the opening seven minutes, but a monster alley-oop dunk by David Short (Darlington, S.C.) from Doles with 13 minutes left in the game gave the Cobras a 10 point advantage and swung the momentum back in Coker’s favor.  The Cobras would go on the build as much as a 21 point lead, while holding on for the 81-61 victory.

Doles was the Cobras leading scorer with 18, while Wright had 12 with six boards and Kyle added 11 points and five rebounds. Austin Harper (Chesnee, S.C.) netted eight points and grabbed three boards and Bracy finished with six points and five rebounds.

Lees-McRae’s Adam McFerran led all scorers with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Sam Youse scored 12 of his 15 from three point range and Daniel Sepokas had 13.

The Cobras will return to action on Wednesday for a Conference Carolinas match-up at Pfeiffer University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
