ANDERSON, S.C. – An eight point deficit in the first half proved to be the Cobra men’s basketball team’s undoing on Thursday night as Coker lost 89-81 to Anderson University in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action. The loss drops the Cobras to 9-12 overall and 6-9 in conference play.

Anderson outscored Coker 40-32 in the first half and that would be all the lead the Trojans would need to take home the win, as both teams scored 49 points in the second half.

The Cobras dominated the inside game, scoring 44 points in the paint compared to Anderson’s 16, but  the Trojans scored 17 points off the bench compared to Coker’s seven points.

Coker’s Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) led all scorers with 24 points and four rebounds, while Mason Ambler (Atlanta, Ga.) had 23 points and five rebounds. Delonte Doles (Roswell, Ga.) added 10 points to the Cobras effort with seven assists and Joselle Bracy (Ruby, S.C.) had eight points and three assists.

Next up for the Cobras is Lees-McRae College on Saturday, Feb. 13 at home. Tip-off for the Conference Carolinas game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
