Hartsville, SC- In their second home game of the season, the Coker Cobras also earned their second win of the season with a 71-63 over Morris College on Monday night in men’s collegiate basketball. The win improves Coker to 2-2 overall for the season.

In the first half Coker took a 20 point lead into the half, even though they had 14 turnovers, but Morris had 13 turnovers of their own. Morris also shot just 19.2 percent from the field compared to the Cobras 53.6 percent.

The Hornets narrowed the gap in the second half, behind a 50 percent shooting effort and 15 more Coker turnovers. Luckily the Cobras were able to hang on to their lead and take home their second victory.

Leading the Cobras was Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach, SC) with 14 points, followed by Stevie Evans (West Columbia, SC) with 10 points and four rebounds. Mason Ambler (Atlanta, GA) had six points and 10 rebounds and Vatrick Thompson (West Columbia, SC) had nine points.

For Morris, Christopher Owens had 16 points and three rebounds, while Kenneth Nesmith had 13 points and eight rebounds. Randall James finished the night with 11 points and six rebounds.

Coker returns to the floor on Thursday, as they host the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, the Barton College Bulldogs. Tip-off is at 8:00 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
