WILSON, NC — The Coker men’s basketball team hung with Barton for much of the game but the Bulldogs eventually pulled away for a 67-51 win.  The Cobras fall to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the CVAC with the loss.

Barton (9-5, 5-2) won its fourth game in five outings with a decisive run midway through the second half.  BC stretched its lead to 56-41 with a 9-2 run that started with a put-back and a three-pointer from Justin Diggs.  The run seemed to break the Cobras spirit and the lead continued to grow from there, reaching an apex of 20 points with 3:34 to play.

As Coker struggled to score in the second half Barton kept firing and connected on 51 percent of its shots in the game.  CC managed only 31 percent shooting and lost the battle of the boards 38-33.

Senior Ryan Queen/Philadelphia, PA led Coker offensively with 14 points and junior Jason Fulwood/Cumming, GA finished with nine points.  Sophomore Abram Ludd/Sumter, SC scored eight points and hauled down a game-high10 rebounds and senior Andre Blackwell/Bethune, SC had four assists.

Casey Moore led an evened Barton attack with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Diggs contributed 11 points.  Jacoby Key added 10 points and eight boards and Alejo Barovero had 10 points and four rebounds.

Coker travels to Belmont Abbey on Saturday, January 22, for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
