Pembroke, NC - The UNCP men's basketball squad picked up their first win of the 2004-05 season and the Jason Tinsley era on Tuesday night, downing visiting Coker College by a 74-60 score in the Jones Center. Sophomore guard Frank Foster paced the Braves with 13 points and six assists. Pembroke now stands at 1-3 on the young season, while the Cobras fall to 0-2.

Despite shooting a blistering 61 percent from the floor in the first half, the Braves could only forge a five-point halftime lead at 39-34. Pembroke struggled from the line, only connecting
on six of twelve attempts.

Foster led the Braves in the half with seven points and four assists, while Arne Danielsen came off the bench to help UNCP erase a late five-point deficit with two bombs from behind the arc.

Both teams struggled to start the second half. Coker managed to knot the score at 47-47, only to see the Braves put together a 9-0 run led by Foster and fellow senior Anthony Crank. Like Foster, Crank finished with 13 points, including two crucial free throws down the stretch that sealed the win.

Jabarr Adams and Adam Shepherdson also scored in double figures for UNCP, turing in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Rollie Boone pulled down eight boards.

For Coker, Jay Farrow led the way with 17 points, nine of which came at the charity stripe. Michael Pierce and Johnny Jackson chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

UNCP finished at a little over 60 percent accuracy for the game, compared to the Cobras' 37. UNCP also knocked down seven of fourteen attempts from the three-point line.
