DUE WEST, SC - Erskine advanced to the quarterfinals of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Tournament Monday with a 93-74 victory over Coker.

 

The Fleet, which lost twice to Coker in the regular season, evened its record at 14-14 with its sixth win in seven games. Coker ended its season at 6-22. The sixth-seeded Flying Fleet will play third-seeded Barton College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Wilson, NC for a final four berth.  Semifinals and finals will be played at Limestone College Friday and Saturday.    

 

Erskine shot a blistering 65.4 percent in the first half, including 9 of 14 from behind the 3-point arc to take a commanding 51-20 halftime lead. Matt Odom had 15 points on five 3-pointers in the first period. Coker made several runs on 57.6 percent shooting in the second half, but could get no closer than 16 points.

 

Erskine placed four players in double figures. Craig Williams had 22 points and led both teams with 10 rebounds. Odom had 21 points, connecting on 7 of 10 3-pointers. Guard Jason Winecoff had a career high 16 points, including 9 of 9 from the free throw line. T.J. Taylor scored 13 points and a game-high 6 assists.

 

Michael Pierce had 19 points, Jason Fulwood 14 and Mark Duncan 12 for the Cobras.
