Coker ESports Falls to Cornell College in Fourth Round of Hearthstone

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University ESports team fell to Cornell College in the fourth round of the NACE Hearthstone National Championship on Tuesday (Feb. 23) by a score of 3-2.

Coker brought its Highlander Hunder, Secret Mage and Token Druid. Cornell College brought its Zoo Warlock, Lifesteal Demon Hunter and Spell Damage Mage. Game one was Coker's Highlander Hunter against Cornell's Zoo Warlock. Cornell was able to start off with a board on turn one and Coker wasn't able to answer it. This gave Cornell the first victory.

Game two was Coker's Secret Mage against Cornell's Lifesteal Demon Hunter. Coker's mage started off strong and was able to find the win by turn nine.

Game three was Coker's Highlander Hunter against Cornell's Demon Hunter. This was the first game that was able to go the distance, and Cornell ran out of steam near the end to give Coker the win.

Game four was Coker's Token Druid against Cornell's Spell Damage Mage. Cornell was able to do the same as Coker, and started off strong to win on turn nine.

The final game was Coker's Token Druid against Cornell's Lifesteal Demon Hunter. Coker was able to continuously apply pressure, but Cornell was able to clear the board without using any combo pieces. With Coker getting close to finding a winning turn, Cornell was able to get their combo off to deal 32 damage to Coker to win the match. 

The Hearthstone team will continue season on Tuesday (Mar. 2) against St. Clair at 8:00 p.m. Video for the match will be available at www.cokercobras.com
