Coker Esports Falls to Ryerson in the Overwatch Open Division

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker University Esports Overwatch took on Ryerson University and University of California Santa Cruz in a doubleheader Overwatch matchup on Sunday (Nov. 1).

In the first match of the night the Cobras faced off against Ryerson University. The first map was Lijiang Tower, and Ryerson started off strong by taking the point first and never giving it up. The second round Coker was able to get 65 percent, but it wasn't enough to stop Ryerson as they won the first map. The next map was King's Row, and Coker started off on the attack. They were able to quickly take the first point, but were slowed down on their way to the second point. They were eventually able to cap it but because it took so much time, they were unable to get to the third point. It was Ryerson's turn to attack, and they wasted no time as they were able to push the payload to where Coker pushed it to win the match 2-0.

Coker's second match of the night was against University of California Santa Cruz, and Coker started on Lijiang Tower again. University of California Santa Cruz played the map perfectly by taking the points first and never letting it go. The second map was King's Row, and Santa Cruz was able to full hold Coker on the first point. Santa Cruz was then able to push past Coker's defenses to win the match 2-0.

The Cobras will be back in action on Monday (Nov. 2) when they compete in the Hearthstone Open Division at 7:00 P.M.
