Coker Esports Defeats Keiser University Sarasota in the NACE Overwatch Fall Cup

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University Esports Hearthstone team took Vanderbilt in the Hearthstone Open Division, while the Overwatch team took on Keiser University Sarasota in the NACE Overwatch Fall Cup on Thursday (Oct. 29).  

In the first round of Hearthstone Coker brought Face Hunter, Broom Paladin, and Gibberling Druid, while Vanderbilt brought Big Warrior, Highlander Mage, and Secret Rogue. Game one was Coker's Face Hunter versus Vanderbilt's Secret Rogue, and Vanderbilt was able to get an early 10/10 Edwin VanCleef that Coker was unable to deal with resulting in a game one loss for the Cobras. Game two started of strong as Coker found 12 damages with their Face Hunter by round three, but Vanderbilt's Highlander Mage was able to come back with just two HP to close out the game. In game three Coker decided to try out their Face Hunter again while Vanderbilt's last deck was Big Warrior. Coker ran out of steam as Vanderbilt was able to get enough armor to survive the damage and win the match 3-0. 

The map started on Busan in Overwatch, and Coker started off swinging by taking the map 2-0. The next map was Junkertown. and Coker's Defense was strong as they held them just 52 meters away from the start. Coker was then able to secure the win in a minute to go up 2-0. The third map was King's Row, and although Keiser took the first point quickly, Coker was able to ralley back to defend the second point. The half was capped off with a Shatter on half of Keiser's team from Tristen Gray. It was Coker's turn to push. and they were able to match Keiser's push. Tristan Gray and Madison Schmidt were able to combo their ultimate together to kill the entirety of Keiser's team to win the map and the match 3-0. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Oct.31) when they take on St. Andrews the NACE Overwatch Fall Cup at 8:00 PM.
