ESports Falls to Ole Miss in Open Division Hearthstone Thursday Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University Hearthstone team took on Ole Miss on Thursday night (June 4) after a three-month break from competition, falling in a tight match 3-2.

The first game was Coker's Demon Hunter vs Ole Miss's Priest. Demon Hunter is all about keeping up the tempo and using synergies to out value opponents, while Priest is all about surviving and out-lasting your opponent. While Ole Miss was able to clear the board early, Coker was able to continue their pressure and win the first game.

Game two put Coker's Paladin against Ole Miss's Warrior. This Paladin is all about summoning Murlocs, small units, and loading them up and overwhelm your opponent. Warrior is similar to Paladin, but uses Pirates instead of Murlocs. Ole Miss was unable to handle the early game onslaught, leading to another Coker victory.

In game three, both teams used their Warrior deck, and this match was all about who can out-value their opponent. Coker had the early game but Ole Miss was able to recover and secure the victory.

Game four was Coker's Warrior vs Ole Miss's Priest. Coker was able to get Ole Miss to 4HP, but the healing was too much and Ole Miss forced a fifth game.

The fifth and final match had Coker's Warrior vs Ole Miss's Rogue. Both decks rely on the early game and keeping tempo in your favor. Coker had the early game. but was unable to keep the momentum in their favor. Ole Miss was able to come back and win game five, giving them the match 3-2.

Coker returns to action in Varsity Division Hearthstone tomorrow (Friday, June 5) at 8:00 p.m. Video for the match will be available at www.cokercobras.com
