Coker Esports Falls Short in Week Nine of Overwatch Championship Preseason

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University Esports Overwatch team played in Week Nine of the Overwatch Championship Preseason on Sunday (Nov. 17) against Washington University and Becker College.

The first match was against Washington University, starting on Nepal. The match started off strong for the Cobras, as they were able to get the first point after the first fight. Washington was able to come back and get the second point soon after. The point was traded back and forth, but Washington was able to win the round 100-78. The next round started off with the point being traded back and forth, but Washington was able to hold on and win 100-41 to put them up 1-0. The second map was King's Row, and the Cobras started off slow but were able to get the payload moving after capping the first point. They were stopped soon after, just short of the second point. Washington was able to match the Cobras with their push to win the match 2-0.

The second match against Becker College and started on Nepal. The rounds were close, but Becker was able to win 2-0, with the two rounds being 100-66 and 100-72. In the second map Coker chose King's Row, but Becker was prepared for this choice. Becker was able to hold the first point, not allowing a single tick from Coker. This forced the Cobras to match it on their defense. Becker was able to push through and get the point, winning the match 2-0.

Coker will return next week for two more matches at 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
