Coker Falls to Barton in Home Opener

Hartsville, SC - The Coker University Men's Baseball Team fell short to the Barton Bulldogs on Wednesday (Feb. 8th) afternoon in an early season match-up.

To kick off the game, Coker made quick work of the first out, McIsaac flying out to left field on the first pitch. Although the happy start, the Cobras were soon working to keep runners from scoring in the first inning. With ease and conrtol, the Cobras quickly had three outs and were finding their own team in a postion to score. Donovan Frayer, starting batter for Coker had an easy stroll to first base. However, Frayer and Cameron Ferrell would both be back in the dugout on a double play by the Bulldogs. The Cobras and Bulldogs would leave the first inning eith no runs scored.

Both teams continued to play head to head all throughout the game, until the Bulldgos were able to bring home their first run of the night. Despite the lead, Coker answered with a run of their own; Cameron Ferrell batted in by Kody Hanna. Coker and Barton would go into the top of the 4th inning tied 1-1. Once again, Barton scored to take the lead back and regain control of the game. Despite having multiple chances at scoring and runners being in postion, the Cobras were unable to lock it in and seal the deal. The final of the game ending in Barton with a 4-1 lead. 

Collin Breland (13), Ethan Graham (9), Britton Adams (10), and Chris Watkins (6) all pitched against the Bulldogs.

Coker will be returning to the mound on Friday (Feb. 10th) for a double header at 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The first pitch will be thrown at Southern Wesleyan. Live streaming and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com
