Cobras Host Pioneers for Weekend SAC Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball (17-9, 4-2 SAC) hosts Tusculum this weekend (Mar. 18-19) for a South Atlantic Conference series. Video for Friday's game as well as live stats for all three games will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras last action came in the form of a 12-9 win over Bluefield State on Tuesday (Mar. 15). Overall the Cobras pounded out 12 hits, with five players recording multi-hit games. Darius Coldiron notched a 2-4 day with a double, RBI and a run scored, while Thomas Lopez went 2-3 with an RBI and one run scored. Miguel Frias was 2-4 on the day with a double, three RBI and one run scored, and Colton Henthorne went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. AJ Strnad capped off the offensive output at the bottom of the lineup going 3-3 and scoring twice. Strnad also stole three bases, as well as Bryson Conner, Lopez and Ryan Wayne each swiping one bag.

Thomas Lopez is tied for 11th in the conference in batting average, hitting .373. Darius Coldiron is having a strong campaign both at the plate hitting .367 while dominating on the mound with a 3-1 record two saves and a 3.07 earned run average, good for seventh in the conference. Dallas Baldwin is also 11th in the conference with a 3.38 earned run average.

The Pioneers are 17-6 overall and 4-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. Offensively they are led by Creighton Wilke who is hitting .442, has hit four doubles, three home runs and batted in 16 runs.

First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
