Coker Captures Series Win, Splits Monday's Twinbill with King

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker baseball team captured their second Conference Carolinas series victory in a row by defeating King College in two of three games. The Cobras split their doubleheader with the Tornado on Monday, winning game one and losing game two.

The loss snapped Coker's seven game winning streak.

GAME ONE

The Cobras had a come from behind victory in game one, scoring five unanswered runs in the final two innings to take home a 7-6 victory. Keith Wolf (O'Fallon, Ill.) had the walk-off single that won the game for the Cobras. That was Coker's fourth walk-off win of the season.

Russ White (Marion, S.C.) (1-0) earned the win throwing 1.2 innings in relief. He did not allow a single base runner during his time on the mound.

Jake Frazier (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of singles, a double and a triple. He also drove in a run and scored a run. Wolf finished the game 2-for-4 with a pair an RBI and a run scored and Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.) drove in two runs.

GAME TWO

In game two King jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first six innings, but the Cobras cut the advantage to just one with a pair of runs in the seventh. Unfortunately, Coker was unable to keep the deficit at just one run, allowing three more runs in the final two innings giving King the 7-3 win.

Tyler Witzel (Melbourne, Fla.) (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound. He allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings of work. He also fanned six Tornado hitters.

Suarez added another two hits with an RBI in game two, while Rob Quattrock (Holtsville, N.Y.) also had two hits including a double.

Suarez had three hits and drove in three runs for the Cobras in their doubleheader.
