Cobras Compete at 2023 NCATA Nationals

West Liberty, WV- Coker headed to West Liberty as they took part in the 2023 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Championships. The Cobras had two groups competing in the Inversion Pyramid and Open Pyramid.

What happened in the Inversion Pyramid 

Coker competed against Oregon, Gannon, Quinnipiac, and Baylor. With the out large bid, Coker started it off with the strong pyramid that they have been able to rely on all season. With a start value of 10.0, Coker stepped onto the mat. The team had a really smooth transition to the top where Lelia Brozowski had a stronghold at the top and a rolled dismount to have a clean finish. Quinnipiac took the event with a score of 9.900. The Cobras scored 9.700 out of 10.0. 

What happened in the Open Pyramid

In the Open the Cobras competition were Limestone, Baylor, Quinnipiac, and Frostburg State.  Coker came out with a different structure than its competitors. They relied on a structure that scored them multiple perfect 10s this year. Madison McAfee lifted Hanna Helms as they tried to receive maximum points for height and stability. As they stuck their landing the team looked strong as they executed their routine. The Cobras had a smooth toss-up on the transitions and kept it tight as they held for a pause. They received a total score of 9.725. Frostburg went on to win the Open Pyramid with a 9.825.
