Cobras Score First Perfect 10 in Program History

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University acrobatics and tumbling team made more history on Sunday (Apr 3) afternoon as they came up just short against No. 9 nationally ranked and defending Conference Carolinas champion King University on Senior Day by a score of 257.225-256.430. 

The Cobras took the lead early on behind a 34.650 score in the compulsory event, compared to King's 33.950. The Tornado jumped back in front after the acro heats, scoring 28.400 against Coker's 27.050. The historic moment came in the third pyramid heat as the Cobras recorded the first perfect 10 score in program history en route to an event score of 29.150 and a halftime total of 90.850.

Coker continued their good form coming out of halftime, posting a score of 26.500 in the toss event. The six tumbling passes were more of the same, as Coker threw down a score of 51.450. The Cobras outscored the nationally ranked Tornado in four out of six total events on the afternoon. Coker wrapped up their great performance with a team event score of 87.630 to bring their meet score to 256.430. King would post a team event score of 89.250 to give them the narrow victory.
