Acrobatics and Tumbling Makes History With Win

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Coker University acrobatics and tumbling team made more history on Thursday night (Mar. 17) as they won the first tri-meet in school history by defeating Lander and Mars Hill. The Cobras posted their highest score of the season with a 261.860.

The Cobras jumped out to an early lead after the compulsory event as they put up a score of 37.45. They then put up a 25.90 in the acro event and performed an almost flawless three heats of the pyramid event, receiving 29.00 out of a possible 29.80. At the half, the scores stood: Coker - 92.35, Lander - 90.65, Mars Hill - 84.70.

Coker picked up where they left off in the second half, as they put up a 27.05 in the toss heats and a 50.950 in the six tumbling heats. The Cobras put a bow on the victory by throwing down a score of 91.51 in the team event to bring their total to the 261.860 mark. Lander finished in second with a 255.885 and Mars Hill was third with a 236.315. Coker set season high scores in five out of six events on the night. 

The Cobras return to action this Sunday (Mar. 20) when they travel to Clinton, S.C. to take on the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College at 1pm. Coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com
