Brianna D'Angelo Hired as Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Brianna D'Angelo has been hired as Coker's new head coach of Acrobatics & Tumbling, announced today (Wednesday, Aug. 4) by Vice President of Athletics & Athletic Facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin.

"We are excited to welcome Brianna to Coker and have her lead the Acrobatics and Tumbling team," said Griffin. "She has been an integral part of the program at Frostburg State and I look forward to seeing the success that she can bring to our program."

D'Angelo comes to Coker from Frostburg State University, where she worked in all facets of the acrobatics & tumbling program as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the staff at Frostburg State, she was a youth gymnastics coach around the state of Maryland. She was also a youth tumbling coach while enrolled at Glenville State College.

A collegiate acrobatics & tumbling student-athlete herself, D'Angelo was a four-year member of the acrobatics & team at Glenville State, where she was a two-time national qualifier for the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships. She was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2019 in the Mountain East Conference and was a five-time Mountain East Conference event finalist. She was also a member of the Glenville State women's track and field team for one year.

"I'd like to thank Dr. Griffin and the search committee for this opportunity, and for trusting me to lead this exceptional program," said D'Angelo. "I couldn't be more excited to build off of the strong foundation that Britteny created, and I'm very eager to contribute my own knowledge to help this team flourish. It is my hope to not only grow this program, but to encourage and help these young women prosper as both student-athletes and individuals. I truly believe that my vision and values align perfectly with Coker's mission, and I'm grateful to begin this journey. I'm looking forward to a successful season. Go Cobras!"

D'Angelo earned her master's degree from Frostburg State in recreation and park management with a concentration in sport management in May 2021, while also holding a bachelor's degree in athletic conditioning and coaching from Glenville State.
