Class of 2024 Hall of Fame Inducted Saturday Evening

Hartsville, SC- Patrick Brooks, Kelvin Brown, Karen Pinckney Floyd, and Lou Warner are four former Coker athletes who have been inducted into the Coker's Hall of Fame for their outstanding achievements in their respective sports.

Patrick Brooks, a 1991 graduate of Coker, was a standout member of the Cobra men's soccer team. He was not only accomplished on the field but also in the classroom, earning the honor of being Coker's first two-time Academic All-American. Brooks was also a three-time NAIA District Six Academic All-District Team selection and a two-time Coker Academic Athlete of the Year. He started nearly every game as a defender for the Cobras and contributed two goals and three assists in his career. Brooks went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from Coker and a degree from the Brantley School of Risk Management and Insurance at Appalachian State University. He is now a Certified Financial Planner and the owner of Independent Investment Services, LLC in Savannah, Georgia.

Kelvin Brown, a 1985 graduate of Coker, was a standout member of the Cobra men's basketball team. He was named the C.G. Timberlake Athlete of the Year in 1985 and was a First Team All-District Six selection. Brown still holds the career record for assists with 726 and the record for most assists in a single game with 18. After graduating from Coker, Brown joined the US Army and later spent 30 years in law enforcement in California. He is currently involved in real estate and is an active member of his church and community in Salinas, California.

Karen Pinckney Floyd, a native of Okatie, South Carolina, was a standout member of the Cobra women's basketball team. She is Coker's all-time scoring leader from 1996 to 2006, with 1,372 career points. Floyd also set the single-season record for three-point field goals made with 76 during the 1993-1994 season. She was an All-Conference selection, named to the Mars Hill University Tournament All-Tournament Team, and a four-time Dean's List honoree. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Education, Floyd had a successful teaching and coaching career. She was named Athletic Director at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School and founded the school's athletic programs. Floyd is currently a Theology teacher and basketball coach at John Paul II Catholic School in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Lou Warner, a two-time All-American catcher for the Cobra baseball team, is one of the few athletes to be inducted into the Coker Hall of Fame as an individual and as a member of a team. Warner was a member of the 1994 Coker baseball team that advanced to the NAIA World Series. Individually, he is the only Cobra baseball player to receive All-American honors twice, earning the honors in 1994 and 1995. Warner had an impressive career, batting .292 with 48 runs scored, 30 doubles, six triples, nine home runs, and 77 RBIs. After graduating from Coker, Warner founded Warner's Athletic Construction Company, which specializes in athletic field construction, renovation, and maintenance. He is considered an expert authority in the industry and has worked on numerous projects for major university sports facilities. Warner is also a member of the Coker Board of Trustees.
