14 Student-Athletes Earn Easton/ NFCA Academic Honors

Hartsville, SC- Coker University, a small liberal arts university in South Carolina, recently celebrated the academic achievements of 14 of its student-athletes. These individuals were honored as All-American Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their outstanding academic performance. They were able to collect a 3.49 GPA throughout the academic school year which helped them rank amongst the best in Division II. These women were also recognized earlier in the year for the 2023 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

Among the honorees was Gracen Chambless from Hartsville, South Carolina, a sophomore majoring in criminology. Chambless maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA while balancing her commitments to the softball team. Her dedication to both her studies and her sport was truly commendable.

Another standout was Mya Cribbs from Beech Island, South Carolina, a freshman studying biology. Cribbs achieved an impressive GPA of 3.79, demonstrating her ability to excel academically while adjusting to the demands of college life. Her commitment to her education and her team was evident.

Delaney Eaves came to Coker from Clayton, North Carolina, a sophomore also majoring in biology, joined Chambless in earning a perfect 4.00 GPA. Eaves' dedication to her studies and her sport showcased her exceptional work ethic and determination.

Jenae Fedewa from Winter Park, Florida, a senior pursuing a degree in business administration, maintained a GPA of 3.80. Fedewa's ability to balance her academic and athletic responsibilities throughout her college career was a testament to her strong time management skills.

Hannah Fisher arrived at Coker from West Columbia, South Carolina, is another senior majoring in biology, and achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. Fisher's commitment to her studies and her team exemplified her dedication to both her academic and athletic pursuits.

Carter Freeman joined Coker from Snellville, Georgia, as a freshman studying biology, and also earned a perfect 4.00 GPA. Freeman's strong academic performance as a first-year student showcased her potential for success in both her studies and her sport.

Ashton Goodwin from Darlington, South Carolina, and Isabella Hessian came to Coker from Minnetonka, Minnesota, both freshmen, were recognized for their academic achievements as well. Goodwin, majoring in education, achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA, while Hessian, also studying education, maintained a GPA of 3.66. These two student-athletes demonstrated their ability to excel academically while adjusting to the demands of college life.

Cameron Jackson is a second baseman from Wagener, South Carolina, is. a junior majoring in physical education achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. Jackson's commitment to her studies and her sport showcased her exceptional work ethic and determination.

Kayla Oswell from Lexington, South Carolina, and Chloe Pelham from Goose Creek, both seniors, were recognized for their academic achievements. Oswell, majoring in communication, maintained a GPA of 3.80, while Pelham, studying history, achieved a GPA of 3.83. These two student-athletes demonstrated their ability to excel academically while balancing their commitments to their studies and their team.

Kelsi Scott is from Gold Hill, North Carolina, Scott is a junior majoring in nursing and achieved a GPA of 3.90. Scott's dedication to her studies and her sport showcased her exceptional work ethic and determination.

Brooklynn Stueness came to Coker from Moncks Corner, South Carolina, as a senior pursuing a degree in business administration, she maintained a GPA of 3.80. Stueness' ability to balance her academic and athletic responsibilities throughout her college career was a testament to her strong time management skills.

Our last athlete is Caitlyn Wray from Maiden, North Carolina, is a junior also majoring in business administration and achieved a GPA of 3.75. Wray's commitment to her studies and her team exemplified her dedication to both her academic and athletic pursuits.

These 14 student-athletes at Coker College have proven that it is possible to excel both academically and athletically. Their commitment to their studies and their sport is truly inspiring, and they serve as role models for their peers. The college community is proud to celebrate their achievements and looks forward to their continued success in the future.
