HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University sophomore wrestler Hamilton Cooper has been named the SPC Credit Union January Student-Athlete of the Month, announced by the athletics department today (Thursday, Feb. 3).

Cooper posted three wins in the month of January, including one by fall. His first win of the month came on January 23, as he defeated Lander’s Scotty Dean by fall in 3:48. Later on that same day, Cooper would add another victory as he bested Queens (N.C.)’s Josh Voelkel in a hard-fought 1-0 decision. Cooper’s third win of the month came on January 29, as he got the decision against Newberry’s Devon Rice by a 2-1 margin. 

This is Cooper’s first career Student-Athlete of the Month selection.

The Comer, Ga. native is the son of Jerika and Hamilton Cooper, and is majoring in spanish.
