Darroneshia Lott Breaks Coker Record, Finishes Second at South Atlantic Conference Championships

NEWTON, N.C.- The Coker College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Newton, N.C to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships at Southside Park Saturday (Oct. 21) morning. Darroneshia Lott and Jacob Chebii pushed the pace for the Cobras as the women placed ninth and the men finished tenth. 

Darroneshia Lott powered her way to a second place finish in the time of 17:52.88, to become the most decorated cross country runner in program history. Lott broke her own record of 17:57 in the 5k, setting a new Coker record. The senior Florida native now holds the top-five 5k times in the school's existence.

Chauntress Like and Breanna Sullivan ran hard as well with times of 21:34.04 and 21:49.49.

On the other side of the trails, the Coker men's cross country team ran an 8k race in which Jacob Chebii led the way with a time of 27:19.44. Brandon Mullins followed Chebii at the 27:31.89 mark and Razzel Kiplaget finished in the time of 28:12.05.

The men finished the South Atlantic Conference Championships with the total time of 2:22:27.27 with an average time of 28:29.46.

The Coker College men's and women's cross country teams will next compete in the NCAA Southeast Region Championships at the Southeast Region Meet held at Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. on Saturday Nov. 4.
