Cobras Earn Conference Win over Lincoln Memorial Friday Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University Volleyball earned a South Atlantic Conference win over Lincoln Memorial Friday night (Oct. 14) to start Homecoming weekend by a score of 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 25-13). 

Coker jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first set, before LMU would bring the set to 20-18. The Cobras would win five of the final nine points of the set to take the opening frame. 

The teams played to a 5-5 deadlock in the second set, before Coker would play the better set to get out to an 18-13 lead. The teams would battle back and forth as Coker would take the second set. 

Lincoln Memorial would win the third set 27-25 to force a fourth, before the Cobras would control the fourth set from the start to take the match on home court. 

Taylor Hills led the way with a career-high 13 kills in the match, while Chelsey Blume also posted 12 kills in the match. Six others registered kills in the match for Coker. Kendal Boland dished out 20 assists in the match, while Adriana Velez also had 14 and Makayla Harris also contributed eight. Lauren Loveday and Alex Williams each also had one assist in the match. Harris led the way with five service aces in the match, while Loveday had two and Blume had one. Harris led the way with 10 digs in the match, while nine others also had digs in the contest. Blume and Nehemiah Jinks each had one solo block in the contest, while Blume had six block assists. Jinks had five block assists in the contest, while Alexis Kopicki had four and three others also contributed block assists in the match. 

The Cobras continue Homecoming weekend tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 15) when they host Carson-Newman. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. from the DeLoach Center, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com
