Cobras Stumble on Day Two of the Fleet Classic

DUE WEST, S.C.- The Coker Cobra women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday (Sept. 9) versus King (Tenn.) and Shorter on the last day of the Fleet Classic Tournament.

Match one saw the Navy and Gold fall to the King Tornado. Despite the Cobras having a block party, they tallied 11 total blocks in the match, it was not enough to overcome the Tornado as they lost 3-1.

Taylor du Bray led the way for the Cobras on the attack with 10 kills, while Christen Bragg dished out 25 assists. On the defensive end, Kara Overholt led the team with 19 digs.

In the second match of the day, the Cobras suffered a 3-0 loss to the Shorter Hawks.

As a team, the Cobras finished with 36 total kills in the match. Madison Bingle and du Bray led the way with nine and eight kills, respectively, while Bragg handed out 31 assists. Bragg and du Bray also led the Cobras on the defensive side of the net with 15 digs each.

The Cobras will be back on the court for their second South Atlantic Conference match of the season on Tuesday (Sept. 12) at 7 p.m. when they travel to Queens University of Charlotte.
