Cobras Fall to Lions in SAC Play

MARS HILL, N.C.- Coker women's volleyball dropped its South Atlantic Conference match to Mars Hill on Saturday (Oct. 8).

Coker dropped the first two sets by identical 25-19 scores, before falling in a gritty 28-26 third set. Coker had the pressure on the Lions for most of the third set, leading at one point 15-12 and later in the set 20-14. The Cobras held set point at 25-24, but were unable to finish off the home team.

Taylor du Bray and Alexis Berles led the Cobras offensively with seven kills apiece, while Christen Bragg dished out 18 assists and du Bray added 12. Kara Overholt led the team on the defensive end with 25 digs. Du Bray completed the double-double effort with 10 digs, while Bragg was one dig shy of her own double-double, finishing with nine. Madison Bingle also led the blocking effort with four block assists.

The Cobras return home on Tuesday (Oct. 11) when they host Newberry in South Atlantic Conference action. First serve is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start.
