Willis Earns All-Tournament Honors, Leads Coker to Pair of Victories

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Cobra women's volleyball team completed its final day at the Battle at the Springs Tournament on Saturday (Sept. 7), by picking up a pair of wins against Paine (3-0) and Point (3-1). With the victories Coker improves to 3-2 on the year.

Coker took care of business in the opening match of the day, defeating Paine 25-13, 25-12 and 25-15. Taylor Willis led the offense with eight kills, while Samantha Celek handed out 23 assists. Celia Duggan and Amanda Harris added five kills each in the win.

Willis was a force to be reckoned with in the Cobras' final match of the tournament against Point. The senior dominated the attack with a career high 23 kills, four aces and eight digs. Kelly Stine chipped in with nine kills and 23 assists, while Celek had 26 assists.  Katie McElveen and Amanda Harris led the defense with 18 and 14 digs respectively.  Coker won the match with scores of 19-25, 29-27, 25-18 and 25-21.

Willis earned all-tournament honors for her performance during the two-day tournament. She had 51 kills, 11 service aces, three blocks and a .269 hitting percentage in five matches.

The Cobras will return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 11) when they travel to Wilson, N.C. to face Barton College in a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
