Coker Rallies Past UNC Pembroke in Five

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – In a thrilling five set match, the Cobra women's volleyball team defeated the Braves of UNC Pembroke 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Coker took an early 2-0 lead with 25-22 and 25-17 wins in the first two sets. Pembroke was not ready to go quietly into the night as they scored 15 straight points to win the third set 25-15, followed by a 25-22 win in the fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth set. Coker stepped up in the fifth and took home the match with a 15-8 victory.

April Griggs and Taylor Willis were the kill leaders with 13 apiece, while Catie Truzzolino added eight kills. Brittany Bass had a match high 27 digs, with Mindy Morris digging up 18 and Samantha Celek handed out 47 assists.

The Cobras will return to the court for a pair of Conference Carolinas matches this weekend at home. The first will be at 7 p.m. on Friday against Mount Olive and the second at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday against Barton.
