Cobra Women's Volleyball Suffers Losses at Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in the opening day of play at the Anderson University Invitational on Friday. The Cobras lost their opening match of the day 3-0 to Tusculum College and then lost their second match to Montreat College, 3-2.

In the Tusculum match, Coker lost 25-10, 25-21 and 25-15. Taylor Willis led the attack with six kills, while Brittany Bass had nine digs and Samantha Celek had 17 assists.

Against Montreat, the Cobras lost the opening set 25-21, but took sets two and three with scores of 25-23 and 25-22. Montreat bounced back with wins in the fourth and fifth sets with scores of 28-26 and 15-6. Willis knocked down 19 kills in the match and Celek handed out 27 assists, while Mindy Morris led the team in digs with 15.

Coker continues its play at the Anderson Invitational starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday against the University of Montevallo, followed by a 1 p.m. match against the host Trojans of Anderson.
