Cobra Volleyball Battles Back to Defeat Pfeiffer 3-2

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Down two sets to none, the Coker volleyball team battled their way back to a 3-2 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas volleyball action on Friday night. The Cobras won the final three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 15-10.

The win improves the Cobras to 9-10 overall and 5-10 in conference play, and keeps their playoff chances alive as they are tied for third in the eastern division.

Pfeiffer jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind a 25-20 win and 25-18 win, but Coker was not ready to give up yet as they stormed back for the win.

Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) had double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs, while Taylor Willis (Zephyrhills, Fla.) also had 10 and four block assists. April Griggs (Bishopville, S.C.) added nine kills to the offense. Brittany Bass (Bethune, S.C.) had 15 digs, while Jessica Garrett (Simpsonville, S.C.) had 14 digs and Mindy Morris (Beaufort, S.C.) had 13 digs.

Coker returns to the floor on Saturday for their final regular season home game against Queens University of Charlotte at 2:00 p.m.

McElveen had 10 kills and 15 digs for a double-double. 

The McDonald's Player of the Game is presented by the Hartsville McDonald's and is given to the most outstanding performer during each Coker College home athletic event.
