Cobras Drop Four Set Match to Lees-McRae

HARTSVILLE, S.C.  – Sophomore Taylor Willis (Zephyrhills, Fla.) had 10 kills to led the Cobras attack against the Lees-McRae Bobcats, but Coker could not overcome the conference leaders losing the match 3-1.

The Cobras took the first set 25-21, but could not find a groove after that. Coker lost the next three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-18.  Junior April Griggs (Bishopville, S.C.) and sophomore Hannah Vadakin (Centennial, Colo.) each had five kills.  Junior Brittany Bass (Bethune, S.C.) had team leading 16 digs and Samantha Celek (Charleston, S.C.) had 22 assists and eight digs.

Lees-McRae juniors Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) and Megan Mitchell (Minden, Nev.) had 13 and 12 kills respectively.  Freshman libero Sariah Suryadevara (Cincinatti, Ohio) had 14 digs.

The Cobras fall to 8-16 on the year, 5-8 in Conference Carolinas matches.  Lees-McRae is now 21-8 on the year, with a perfect 15-0 in conference.

Coker's next home match is Saturday at 2 p.m. against Belmont Abbey College.
