Trojans Beat Out Cobras in Four, 3-1

HARTSVILLE, SC -- Coker sophomores Hannah Vadakin (Centennial, CO) and Taylor Willis (Zephryhills, FL) combined for 21 kills for the Cobras, but it would not be enough as Mount Olive took their Conference Carolinas match in four sets with a score of 3-1. The Trojans won sets one, two and four with scores of 25-18, 30-28 and 25-14. The Cobras won the third set 25-23.

Coker was led by Willis with 12 kills, while Vadakin added nine.  Vadakin also had four service aces.  Sophomore Katie McElveen (Hartsville, SC) had three kills, seven digs, and two total blocks.  Junior libero Brittany Bass (Bethune, SC) had eight digs and sophomore Kelly Stine (Ft. Collins, CO) had six kills and a service ace.

The Trojans had two players with 20+ kills, as sophomores Carly White (Ash, NC) and Erika Conner (Marion, IA) had 22 and 20 kills respectively.  Sophomore libero Lauren Lee (Mount Olive, NC) had 12 digs.  White also added 2.5 total blocks (1 solo, 4 assist).

Coker's record falls to 6-11, 3-5 in conference; Mount Olive is now 8-10, 4-6 during Conference Carolinas matches. 

Coker's next home match will be Saturday, October 8, against Barton College at 2 p.m.
