Cobras Fall in Four to Fayetteville State 3-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Junior April Griggs (Bishopville, SC) had nine kills and sophomore Katie McElveen (Hartsville, SC) had eight kills and 13 digs, but it was not enough as Fayetteville State defeated Coker 3-1 in a non-conference match on Saturday. 

The Cobras lost sets one, three and four with scores of 25-22, 25-21, 5-23. Coker took the second set 25-21.  The loss drops Coker to 6-7 on the season.

Freshman Jordan Arnsmeyer (Sumter, SC) had ten kills for the Cobras and sophomore Kelly Stine (Fort Collins, CO) had 22 assists.  Sophomore Hannah Vadakin (Centennial, CO) had four block assists and Stine also had two. 

Fayetteville St. had three players with ten or more kills.  Juniors Octavia Wynn (Hope Mills, NC) and Joi Emanuel (Charlotte, NC) had 11 and ten kills respectively, and freshman Latoya Harvin (Belle Glade, FL) led the Broncos with 12 kills.  Sophomore JaMisha Jordan led the team with 14 digs; classmate Decausha McLean (Laurinburg, NC) added 12 digs of her own.  Fayetteville St. is now 11-9 on the season.

Coker's next match is on September 27 at Pfeiffer.  Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
