HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College Head Volleyball Coach Todd Caughlin is pleased to announce that Samantha Celek has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Cobras starting in the fall of 2011.

A setter from Charleston, S.C., Celek comes to Coker following a stellar career at Bishop England High School where she was a four-time letter winner, All-Region and All-State selection. A two–time Wando Invitational All-Tournament Team selection, Celek was also named to the Post & Courier All-Low Country Second Team and was named the 2010 South Carolina State AA Player of the Year by the High School Sports Report.

"I am very excited about Sam committing to the Cobra Volleyball program for the fall of 2011,” said Caughlin.  “As a member of four state championship teams, she brings the experience of knowing how to win and the work necessary to earn those wins. Both of these attributes will be called on to help take our program to a new level."

In addition to her success on the court, Celek is an exceptional student in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the Key Club, a four-year member of the Student Government Association and a Bishop England Ambassador. She has received numerous awards during her time at Bishop England, including the Student Government Leadership Award. She intends to major in communications at Coker.

Celek becomes the fourth player signed by Coach Caughlin for the fall of 2011. The Cobras will open their season on September 2-3 at the Queens University of Charlotte Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
