HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College Head Volleyball Coach Todd Caughlin announced that Taylor Clay has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Cobras during the early signing period.

Clay is a native of Canton, Ohio, where she is a standout four sport athlete at Central Catholic High School. Clay lettered in volleyball, basketball, track and softball. A First Team All-County volleyball selection, Clay led her team in blocks and kills averaging 3.75 blocks per set and 4.75 kills per set.

"Taylor commits to Coker from a strong high school and club program and will contribute to our rebuilding process,” said Caughlin. “She brings the ability to play a couple of different positions for us in the front row and I am excited to get her on campus and have her be a member of the Cobra Volleyball Program!"

In addition to her exceptional talent on the court, Clay is a honors student with a 3.75 GPA. She plans to major in Criminology while at Coker.

According to Caughlin, “Taylor is a strong student and a competitive athlete, which is the combination that I am looking for to be a member of this program.”

Taylor is the second member of the Clay family to choose Coker College, her brother Josh is a currently a freshman on the men’s golf team.

Clay becomes the first signee for Coach Caughlin and the Cobras, as they look to build and improve for the 2011 season.
