GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Lady Cobras volleyball team dropped two matches on Friday evening, the first loss was to Conference Carolinas foe Limestone College, 3-1, marking Coker’s first conference loss of the season. Their second loss of the night came in the Lady Cobras opening match of the Labor Day Tournament at Limestone, as they lost in straight sets to Lander, 3-0.

The losses drop Coker to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play.

In the first match, the Lady Saints won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-12. Coker won the third bout 25-21, but Limestone recovered in set four to win 25-14.

Melissa Thomas (Easley, S.C.) led the Lady Saints with 14 kills, while Jennifer O’Keeffe (Canton, Ga.) posted 13 kills. Sam Johnson (Summerville, S.C.) had four blocks. Laura Kerrison (Charleston, S.C.) recorded 24 assists and 2 aces. Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, S.C.) posted 14 digs while Brooke England (Rochester, N.Y.) had 11.

For the Lady Cobras, Cynallyhia Indriago (Columbia, S.C.) led the way with 12 kills and nine digs, while Abby Frame (Sylvania, Ohio) had 16 assists and 17 digs. Kayla Hopper (Newberry, S.C.) had 11 digs in the match and Kristin Teets (Columbia, S.C.) had six kills.

In match number two, Lander defeated Coker with scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-16.

Paige Murray (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) and Indriago were the kill leaders with seven and five kills respectively, while Frame had 11 assists, 13 digs and three aces. Indriago and Murray had seven and six digs respectively and Teets and Molly Bookhart (Orangeburg, S.C.) each had three blocks.

On Saturday, the Lady Cobras are slated to take on North Greenville at 9 a.m. and Newberry College at 1 p.m.
