Hartsville, SC- In a battle for the fourth place in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference standings, the Cobras of Coker and the Trojans of Anderson were both well prepared, and both were hungry for a victory. In the end it was Coker coming out on top win the match 3-1. The Cobras earned the win with victories in game one 30-15, game three 30-17 and game four 30-21.  Trojans were able to pick up a win in game two with a score of 30-23. With the win the Cobras move to 15-12 overall, and 13-6 in the CVAC, while the Trojans fall to 19-15 overall, and 12-7 in the CVAC.

 

Leading way for the Cobras were Margaret Madison and Natalie Schembra, Madison had 17 kills and seven blocks, while Schembra had 19 digs and five aces. Lauren Larsen and Megan Haupt each recorded double digit kills with Larsen totaling 13 and Haupt with 12. Tara Nelson had 47 assists and Kelsey Carlson netted 23 digs and three aces.

 

Anderson’s leading attacker was Beth Lawson with 10 kills, while Heather Swain and Shaunte Heyward each had nine kills. Heyward and Lawson were also block leaders for the Trojans with five and three blocks respectively. Jessica Pedrick had 34 assists and Leanna Willis and Amanda Edwards had 13 and 11 digs respectively.

 

Coker will play either final home match of the season tomorrow as they host the Saints of Limestone College at 1:00 p.m. The Cobras four seniors; Ashley Schaum, Tara Nelson, Bianca Larsen and Lauren Larsen will all be honored before the match.
