Hartsville, SC- The Coker Volleyball Team continued its winning ways as they defeated CVAC foe Pfeiffer University in collegiate volleyball Saturday afternoon. Coker won the match in three games 30-21, 30-19 and 30-22. With the victory the Cobras move to an even 10-10 overall, and 9-2 in the CVAC, putting them in second place in the conference standings.

 

Leading the Cobras in the win was junior Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI, with 11 kills and 18 assists, while sophomore Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA, and senior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC, each had 13 and 6 kills respectively. Manuel also had 22 digs in the match, and freshman Kelsey Carlson/Oswego, IL had 15 digs. Sophomore setter Courtney Butrym/Irmo, SC also gave the Cobras 20 assists in the match.

 

For the Pfeiffer Falcons, Vera Taylor was the kill leader with 7, while Morgan Liebert had 19 assists. Sarah Beth Hobson had 4 kills, 3 blocks and an assist in the match as well.

 

The Coker Volleyball team takes to the court for their next match on Monday, October 10, as they host Eckerd College at 6 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
