Hartsville, SC- The Coker volleyball team seemed as if  they were doomed to lose yet another match after the first two games of Saturday’s match against Belmont Abbey, but down two games to none the Cobras fought back to win the next three games and take the match 3-2.

 

Coker was led to victory by senior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC, and Sophomore Margaret Madison/ Savannah, GA, who had 20 and 14 kills respectively, as well as 20 digs each. Sophomore Megan Haupt/Summerville, SC, added 13 kills for the Cobras, while fellow sophomore Courtney Butrym/Irmo, SC, had 49 assists, and freshman Kelsey Carlson/Oswego, IL, had 19 digs.

 

For the visiting Crusaders, Sarah Holligen had 23 kills and 5 aces, while Sydney Steffen had 12 kills and 21 digs. Allison Smith had 45 assists and Monica Holligen had 29 digs for Belmont Abbey.

 

With the victory Coker moves to 2-8 on the season and 1-1 in the CVAC, while Belmont Abbey drops to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the CVAC. The Cobra volleyball team hits the court again as they travel to Barton College on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m.
