Lazare Breaks Record at SAC Outdoor Championships

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Coker University women's track and field team completed day one of the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships on Thursday (May 5).

Senior Calene Lazare once again put her name in the Coker record books, as she broke her own program record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.51 to qualify for tomorrow's (May 6) final. The 4x100 relay team of Lazare, Syriah Lottimore, Mariah Mitchem, and Lasira Nicholson finished second with a time of 46.49, just .01 off of the school record. 

Lazare also qualified for the finals of the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.09. Teammate Mariah Mitchem qualified in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.77. Mitchem was the second overall qualifier in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.72, good enough to put her in the final. Ikia McCullough took 18th in the hammer throw with her distance of 31.71 meters and Jael Stauffer finished in 13th in the long jump with a distance of 5.09 meters.
