Holton Places Second, Two Set School Records at Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Coker University women's track and field team completed competition at the Kenneth Giles Norfolk State University Invitational on Friday (Feb. 12). The Cobras had a strong showing setting two school records and several personal bests while competing against several division one programs. 

Jada Holton broke her own record in the triple jump, with a mark of 11.28m to place second in the event.  

Katie Spence also set a Coker school record with her performance in the 3000m run. Spence ran an 11:32.06, placing eighth in the event. This is not the first time Spence has set a Coker school record, she currently holds the record for the women's 5k as well. 

Two other Cobras placed inside the top 10 in their events. Nyasia Weatherly placed 10th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.93, and Catherine Cann placed ninth in the 3000m run with a time of 12:28.79. 


The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 19) when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Live coverage can be found at cokercobras.com
