Cobras Finish in Fourth at Wingate Invitational

MONROE, N.C. – The Coker College women's track and field team finished up competition at the Wingate Invitational on Friday (Mar. 25). As a team, the Cobras collected 74 points and finished in fourth place. 

In the long jump, Da'Sha Jobes posted her best leap of the season at 5.39 meters. Her performance left her in third place.

In the 4x 100-meter relay, the team of Jobes, Autumn Walters, Noella Leake and Jalecia Williamson posted a season-best time of 48.72, which landed them a second place finish. That time also gives them the second-lowest time amongst the SAC teams, coming into this meet.

Leake finished in the runner-up position in the 200-meter dash. She recorded a time of 26.17 in the finals. She also came in third in the women's 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.42, which tied her best performance of the season. Walters finished in ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.87

Charity Snelling scored her fourth win of the season, recording a 1.63-meter leap in the high jump. Her first place distance bettered her previous SAC-best distance by .01 meter. Snelling also finished in ninth in the triple jump, with a distance of 10.20 meters.

In the javelin throw, Tamara McMichael finished in ninth place, with a distance of 27 meters.

Briana Nixon came in third in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 59.91 in the finals.

Kaylah Ruff finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles. She ran a time of 16.48 in the finals.

In the 400-meter hurdles, the Cobras had three runners finish in the top-six. Snelling led the way with second place finish and a time of 1:07.44. That performance topples her previous time by over two seconds. Ruff finished in third, recording a time of 1:10.11. Williamson finished in sixth with a time of 1:11.05.

In the 5000-meter run, Mercy Muhuhu ran a time of 21:05.14 in the finals, leaving her in seventh place.

The team of Snelling, Lisa Foster, Williamson and Nixon earned the win in the 4x 400-meter relay. They ran a time of 4:06.2 in the finals.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 2) when they travel to Spartanburg for the Terrier Relays.
