Women's Tennis Falls To Newberry

Hartsville, SC - Women's Tennis battled against Newberry this afternoon, but ultimately fell short in a 5-2 loss to the Wolves.

Starting off with doubles, the Cobras split on courts one and two, with Jade Bellegy and Emerson Banning taking the 7-5 win on court one. Needing the win on court three, Coker battled to the brink against the pairing from Newberry. Once up 5-4, they gave up two games and the Wolves tied it at 6-6 to force a tiebreaker. In heartbreaking fashion, the Cobras dropped the doubles point in a set tiebreak on court three with a 7-6(3) scoreline.

The Cobras had some work to do in singles, needing four wins to secure the team victory. With wins from Bellegy (6-0, 3-6, 6-1) on court one and Tamara Macias (6-4, 6-4) on court five, it was tied up 2-2 and things were looking up. Unfortunately, the tide shifted in favor of the Wolves as they dropped the remaining matches in close results to fall 5-2.

The Cobras will come back home for the last match of the regular season, hosting the Wasps of Emory & Henry in a senior day faceoff. First serve for that match will be at 2:00 PM.
