HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Coker College women's tennis team swept the Missouri Valley College Vikings in non-conference action Sunday (Mar. 4) afternoon to improve to 5-2 on the season.
The Cobras completed doubles play by earning victories at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 spots. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Suzanna Mickey and Jennifer Mezei picked up an 8-5 win. Next, the tandem of Jennifer Ruetten and Julia Sorrells earned an 8-3 victory. Wrapping up doubles play at the No. 3 spot, the pair of Charlotte Clarke and Jenna Gainey recorded an 8-2 victory.
In singles action, Mickey (No. 1, 6-2, 6-2), Mezei (No. 2, 6-4, 5-2 default), Ruetten (No. 3, 6-1, 6-1), Sorrells (No. 4, 6-2, 6-2) , Clarke (No. 5, 6-2, 6-2), and Gainey (No. 6, 7-5, 6-0) picked up victories.
Mezei improved to a team-best 6-1 in singles action with her victory this afternoon.
The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 7) when they take on Tiffin University in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
