Cobras Host Carson-Newman for Saturday SAC Contest

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's tennis will look to earn a key South Atlantic Conference win when they host Carson-Newman on Saturday (Mar. 11).

The Cobras (3-3, 1-1 SAC) last played on Sunday (Feb. 26) when they took down Pfeiffer 5-4. The Cobras led 2-1 after doubles play, thanks to an 8-6 win at No. 2 by Suzanna Mickey and Sarah Elliot and an 8-0 shutout at No. 3 by Julia Sorrells and Jenna Gainey. The Cobras trailed 4-2 halfway through singles play, before Gainey (No. 4, 6-1, 6-1), Mickey (No. 5, 6-3, 6-0) and Elliott (No. 6, 6-0, 6-0) each came up with wins to clinch the victory.

On the season, Sarah Elliott is a team-best 4-2 and 2-0 in conference play at No. 6 singles. In doubles play, the pairs of Jennifer Mezei and Jennifer Ruetten along with Jenna Gainey and Julia Sorrells each have three wins.

Carson-Newman comes into the matchup 2-4 and 1-1 in SAC play. Alisa Liashova and Lindy Tatum each have three wins in singles play, while Liashova and Klara Vuckovic are 3-1 in doubles play and 2-0 in the conference.

First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Coker tennis courts.
