Cobras Host Pioneers for Weekend SAC Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's tennis will host Tusculum on Saturday (Mar. 26) for a South Atlantic Conference contest.

The Cobras last played on Mar. 11 when they took down Carson-Newman 6-3 in a conference contest. In doubles action, the Cobras earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The tandem of Jennifer Mezei and Bailey Palmer notched the win at No. 1 doubles, while Ragan Palmer and Suzanna Mickey earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

Mezei completed the match sweep, earning a comeback win at No. 1 singles, by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Ragan Palmer cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Mickey also came back from a set down at No. 5 singles, winning the three-setter 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Sarah Elliott rounded things out for the Navy and Gold with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.

Both Jennifer Mezei and Bailey Palmer each have a 5-5 record in singles play, while the duo is 4-6 in doubles play.

The No. 47 Pioneers are 10-2 on the year and 2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. They own a combined 60-12 record in singles play as well as a 32-4 mark in doubles play. 

First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
