Cobras Tame Tigers for Second Straight Win

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 7-2 dismantling of Benedict College on Saturday (Feb. 7) afternoon.

The Cobras would fall behind 2-1 after the doubles portion of the match, as Bailey Palmer and Ragan Palmer picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

The Navy and Yellow then preceded to sweet the singles portion in dominating fashion with six straight-set victories. Jennifer Mezei led the way with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, while Bailey Palmer notched a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Jessi Campos registered a 6-2, 6-1 No. 3 singles win. Ragan Palmer and Sarah Elliott racked up identical 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Closing out things for the Cobras was Suzanna Mickey with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Coker will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 8) for its first South Atlantic Conference match with the Anderson University Trojans. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Anderson University.
