Slow Start Allows Converse to Squeak Past Coker 5-4

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Converse College on Sunday (Feb. 23) in women's collegiate tennis action.

The Cobras would fall behind 3-0 early, dropping all three matches in doubles action. However, the Navy and Yellow would battle back with wins by Jessi Campos, Sarah Elliott, Kyria Borelli and Faith Baxley in No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. The match came down to the No. 5 and No. 6 singles, which Converse would sweep to preserve a 5-4 victory over the Cobras.

Coker will be back in action Thursday (Feb. 27) when they host Catawba College in a SAC showdown. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Coker tennis courts.
