Cobra Women Roll Past Barton, 6-3

WILSON, N.C. – The Coker women's tennis team swept doubles play and earned three wins in singles to take home a 6-3 win over Barton College on Thursday. The win improves the Cobras 6-3 in Conference Carolinas play and 8-8 overall.

In a match that began on Wednesday, but had to be halted because of rain, the Cobras won all three doubles matches with scores of 8-6 at No. 1, 8-5 at No. 2 and 8-4 at No. 3 on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Cora Berna (Spain), Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) and Kayla Meermans (Pelion, S.C.) led the way with wins in each of their singles matches. Berna pulled out a three set victory at No. 2, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Medley won in straight sets at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1 and Meermans got the win at No. 5 with scores of 6-4, 6-3.

The Cobras will be back on the courts on Friday when they travel to Francis Marion University for a non-conference match at 2:30 p.m.
