Mount Olive Edges Out Coker 5-4

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) stayed perfect in Conference Carolinas play winning both her singles and doubles matches in the Coker women's tennis team's 5-4 loss to Mount Olive on Friday night. The loss drops the Cobras to 4-1 in league play.

Blanchard earned victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. She won her singles match 6-3, 6-3 and with the help of partner Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) they won 9-7. Cora Berna (Spain) and Kayla Meermans (Pelion, S.C.) both earned wins in singles play as well. Both matches went three sets, with Berna winning 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Meermans won at No. 5 singles with scores of 7-6, 3-6, 14-12.

Coker will be back on the court on Saturday at Methodist College. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
